Hermelindo Ruiz and Samuel Diz, Guitar Duo

Following their tradition of presenting new repertoire from Spain and Puerto Rico, as well as little-known gems of the guitar repertoire, this concert will present the latest arrangements and compositions of the duo. Samuel Diz, as a guitarist and scholar, has undertaken music engagements in Europe, America, and Africa. He recorded a CD with the guitar of García Lorca and is one of the leading authorities in music for the promotion of the intellectual movement of Spain of 'Generación del 27'. Hermelindo Ruiz has played his original compositions in 19 countries. Ruiz studied directly with guitar legends Leo Brouwer, Roland Dyens, and Ben Verdery, and was recently commissioned by the Guitar Foundation of America, Cleveland Classical Guitar Society, and Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña.
